NIGHT TO SHINE VOLUNTEERS
Night to Shine, is an unforgettable prom night experience, centered on God’s love, for people with special needs ages 13yrs and older.
Every guest of Night to Shine enters this complimentary event on a red carpet complete with a warm welcome from a friendly crowd and paparazzi. Once inside, guests receive the royal treatment, including limousine rides, professional photography, hair and makeup stations, corsages and boutonnieres, shoe shines, a catered dinner, karaoke room, a Sensory Room, a Respite Room for parents and caretakers, and, of course, a dance floor…all leading up to the moment when each guest is crowned a king or queen of the prom.
About Volunteering
As a Night to Shine Volunteer, you commit to serving as a Buddy for a guest with special needs. This may seem different from last year; however, our guests with special needs must remain the priority. We are no longer taking requests for positions. As a volunteer, you will be expected to: Stand for 4+ hours Lift 20+ lbs, Communicate with guests and care-takers, Recognize guest needs as they arise, be the fun factor for your guest.
Upon consideration for volunteering, you will be sent an email from Checkr to complete your background check. Night to Shine requires Timber Creek Church to have these on file and must be within 24 months.
All role assignments for the event will be sent out by Jan. 15th.
Volunteer Opportunities
Activity Room
Every guest will have the opportunity to have their hair and make up done or have their shoes shined and bows tied in this room. Once all the guests have enjoyed being pampered, this room will then turn into bubbles and karaoke!
Buddy
Accompany and assist assigned throughout the evening, providing companionship(quite literally be their buddy) and any assistance they may need during the event, such as helping them make a plate, sit with them during dinner, dance with them and participate in activities with them.
Sensory Room
Many of your guests may become over-stimulated and need a quiet area to rest and regroup before rejoining the fun.
Respite Room
Every parent/caretaker attending with their loved one will have their own experience to rest and enjoy a night off. We provide dinner, a massage therapist, and so much more.
Red Carpet
Every guest is called my name as they walk the Red Carpet. This team will cheer them on to make them feel visible and valuable. Once all of our guests have walked the red carpet, this team will move inside the ballroom to assist our buddy with their guests, as needed.
Medical Team
Must be a licensed professional. This team will have a designated station at the event for any medical needs that may arise.
Say Yes to the Dress
On January 16th, from 4pm-6pm we will be hosting a “Say Yes to the Dress” experience at Timber Creek Church- Lufkin Campus in the Chapel. Our community has donated all of the dresses! The best part, it’s FREE! So come and try on dresses and hopefully say ‘Yes’ to one!
Guest Prep
Starting at 5pm we offer all ladies simple updos and makeup. All gentlemen can get their shoes shined and their hair styled.
